Thad – Busy Week

  • date
  • 20/08/2010

Well, what a busy past week or so the band have had! Last night we had a gig back at The Elbow Rooms - as charity event for Ben Roe. Seemed to go down well - and some promising prospects for the band may well now lie ahead. The band were minus 'Smokes' on keys - he's currently somewhere in Ireland - but we were once again joined by the very able Sean Clark on guitar and backing vox. We also shared the stage with Nigel Passey - which was great re-union after the tour! In other news - all parts from 'The End Of Tour Sessions' have now gone up on youtube - having been recorded live last week....

Thad – End of ‘Turn Up And Play’ Tour

  • date

Well, we've come to the end of this tour - and I felt I should post something up on here to recognise it. I joined the guys half way through, on saturday evening at the White Horse, for a great local gig. The vibe was wicked - especially considering i'd never even met Nigel and his band. The week that followed then saw us in Coventry, Leicester and Sheffield. Its been eventful - busking, gigging, chilling, eating and travelling. But I think the most inspirational aspect of the tour was simply rocking up to 'Turn Up and Play.' It has shown just how much can be achieved. Take the last gig in Sheffield...

TG: Tour

So we're sat in Brighton in the house of a friend of a friend of Nigel's. It's complicated, but the important thing is that it's warm, we're tired and we're on tour. We've been on the road for 1 week and 2 days, you know you need a break when you're slobbing on the sofa watching Takeshi's castle. Sean and I have been cruising around the country getting better and better having more and more fun, Nigel Passey and his band have been absolutely brilliant, and we now know each others songs inside out. It's great touring around, we've met some great people. The other day we didn't have a gig,...

Thad – The summer so far…

  • date
  • 15/07/2010

Well I thought I'd just do a quick update on here to let you all know that I'm not dead, but also to give you a different/better perspective of what's been happening recently than what Tom has been telling you. (He also cornered me last night, threatening me with physical harm if I didn't write something on here...honest I really want out of this band - I can't think of anything worse to be in right now...especially over a recession!) *The above introduction may have contained some inaccurate information with little or no supporting evidence and thus may have caused the reader to be mis-lead...

TG: Hello!

  • date
  • 14/07/2010

Well, in the last month I have had the privelidge of seeing Mary Mary, Corinne Bailey Rae, James Morrison, Jamiroquai and Stevie Wonder all in one day. Hard Rock Calling....amazing. So Smokes has been travelling around Europe and no doubt had a rubbish time. Meanwhile Me, Jim 'n' Thad teamed up with Mr. Dawkins and took part in Baildon Carnival over the weekend which was very enjoyable. We also recorded a highly hilarious interview and a live set which was hella fun. We have a brand new song! Which will be shown at various points on various videos which will be available online as and when...

TG: Tour, BBC, Studio and Congrats to Chris Dawkins!

  • date
  • 16/06/2010

Well here it is, a blog post! I'm sitting around trying to figure out what I should wear to be in a metal band. Don't worry, we're not having a sudden change in musical direction; it's a college thing. Me and Smokes are in a group that has to play two metal songs and we have managed to do so despite both of us being very non-metal. The difficult part is dressing to look the part. Last night I was in a "Live Dance" band, and, bef ore you ask, I don't know what "Live Dance" is either. The tour is going ahead this summer with Nigel Passey, Sean Clark will be accompanying me on acoustic guitar,...

The Last week has been wicked with as far as the Tom Gee band is concerned. Last saturday we had a photo shoot in a propper studio which I could really get used to.. Had such a laugh with the lads and got some really cool phots which I'm sure will be available soon. We also had a gig last night at the elbow rooms which went down a treat and we've been offered a saturday night there sometime in June so we'll let you know and you can check it out! Love David xx

TG: World Gone Mad

  • date
  • 11/05/2010

So it's been hectic in the political spectrum. Who's going to do what, who's going to live where and, more importantly, why has everyone gone mad? Adam Boulton losing his rag with Mr. Campbell. I mean Campbell is detestable but he probably should've kept his cool. People keep saying that Nick Clegg is in bed with Gordon Brown and David Cameron at the same time. And I appear to be the only one who finds the thought of the three main UK political leaders in bed together rather upsetting. Anyway, whatever happens happens and hopefully we can sort out the mess we're in. In other news my oldest...

Smokes: What I Know About Music…

  • date
  • 20/04/2010

I was brought up listening to Simon and Garfunkel, Bob Dylan and the Beatles. Thats literally it. Nothing else. Whilst this is limiting in some ways, at the core of my musical taste and passion is a love for great melodies, uplifting harmonies and inspirational lyrics. This is why i enjoy playing with Tom, Jamie and Dave so much. Admitedly, these three individuals have reached ridiculously high levels of musicianship, and play really complex stuff, but in all of it I hear personality and meaning. Combined with Tom's un-natural songwriting talents, we have some genuine tracks that people...

TG: Things you should know, things I don’t know and things we’ll never know

  • date
  • 25/03/2010

So I'm back in from College, and I've got this notion, JM3 (John Mayer Trio if you didn't know) and their album TRY! is one of those things that you should know. So I figured I'd share it with you. I can't help but smile, imagining what it would have been like to experience Gravity for the first time from John Mayer, Pino Palladino and Steve Jordan; the smile doesn't go away as it progresses into Vultures and I'm almost laughing. In my minds' eye I can see myself, stood with my groove face on, fully moving to the groove that is the insatiable funk of that song. How can you beat the culmination...
