Tom started playing guitar at the age of 14. He soon developed a love for music, listening to the likes of Eric Clapton before discovering the newer sounds of John Mayer and Jamiroquai who have all helped to inspire his music today.
By 2008 the first phase of Tom Gee Band had emerged with the help of bass player Jamie Moore and David Sudall on drums. They started gigging across the North of England and recording demos with guitarist Chris Dawkins (Oceans Eleven OST, Nightmares on Wax, Jack Johnson).
The progression of TGB continued as the band gained more members, a larger sound, various EPs and a strong fanbase.
In June 2013 Tom Gee Band released their third EP, “Better Things to Do”, which reached No.2 in the iTunes Blues Charts and received strong reviews from critics. This prompted the decision to complete their first album, which was released in April 2014.
On the back of this release, Tom Gee Band were named Jason Elliot’s ‘Young Band of the Year’, (The Jason Elliot Show, Phoenix FM) and one of Tony Corner’s pick of 2013 (The Blues Corner, Firebrand Rock Radio), while the song ‘Better Things to Do’ was featured in Dave Watkins’ Top Five Singles of 2013. Their debut album “Swapping Stories” reached No.4 in the iTunes Blues Charts and from this the band have achieved recognition from various radio stations including BBC Radio Leeds, featuring in Alan Raw’s BBC Introducing showcase.
Around the time of release Tom Gee was nominated for ‘Best Young Artist’ at the British Blues Awards 2014 and was again one of Tony Corner’s picks of 2014.
With a great on stage energy, a huge amount of talent and that famous Yorkshire humour, it is clear to see why Tom and the Band are proving so popular on the touring circuit.
