TG: Library Gig & Review, Loving You

So the stage was set, Tom Bradley had chilled us out, Hunting Bears kept everyone at a mellow and then we showed up. In hindsight, I dare say we were a bit too funky considering the occasion but the crowd seemed to enjoy themselves, particularly the slower numbers. Loving You went down a storm, with a huge solo from Mr. Dawkins. But I gotta say, yeah, Jamie was on form and yes, David was also on form...Chris wasn't bad either. But Laura and Bridie (our fabulous new backing singers) were absolutely terrific. Harmonies were tight, dresses were black, it was everything I'd asked for. And as for Smokes....

Catch-up with Thad

So after finishing my exams, it was straight from the exam room to the train station to get to Leeds for a 6pm soundcheck. It was a pretty intense chain of events, that required instructing Tom to bring half of my kit, but not the other half - and since a drum kit can be split in half in more than 1 way - it made the telephone convo before hand rather long winded. Anyway - it was a good gig and we were playing with some decent bands, in a good venue. It wasn't the easiest audience to play to, who needed transporting from the dulcet tones of the previous folk band. But that was by no means...

Well, my exams are over, the weather's slightly better and I have a new guitar! The EP's done and mastered and on the way to various people, two gigs with the 360 club coming up, 6th Feb booked up for a studio session for a coupla new tunes, recently on the Raw Talent show and looking into getting a radio session in the next month or so. There's been a serious gap between posts, but as you can appreciate, we've been a wee bit busy! This is the first time any of us has had chance to breathe, Jamie and Dave are still couped up this week with stupid amounts of work and exams but the light...

Thad Speaks!

OK - so born from the inhumane injustice of slave-labour - I've finally been forced into writing one of these...actually its because I really don't want to face anymore maths or thermodynamics - or other boring things you don't care about! Anyway, Tom sent me the latest pre-mixes for the new EP last night and been taking a good listen - and I must say I'm very excited!  Can't say too much here - but Chris is doing a fantastic job -  so heads up to you man! Otherwise I've been insanely busy with uni work - but I'm keeping a good portion of playing in. Me and Jamie did a local Jazz gig for my brother's...

SpaceMan: A Few People To Consider

I've had the good fortune to be exposed to some amazing artists over the past few months, and I just wanted to show some appreciation for them in this very public domain. It's just going to be a list but go and explore and find out a bit about them; Bill Evans, Esperanza Spalding, The Black Mighty Orchestra, Bonobo and Portico Quartet. I shall report back with new finds as they crop up, but these artists have made some incredible music and have had a big impact on me. In other news, we've started rehearsals with the quartet (that being myself, Tom, Dave and Dave II [aka Smokes]) and it's...

First and foremost, apologies for the gap between this and the last blog. Lots of things have happened in that space of time. I am now no longer a teenager, much to my dissatisfaction. My excuse for being a complete prat is no longer "It's 'coz I'm a teenager" it's evolved into "I'm grown up, I can do whatever the hell I want". I preferred the first one. No doubt I'll grow into the new excuse. So I'm older, I'm not wiser, I didn't shave for about 2 weeks, so at one point I was hairier. But no longer! We have a gig tonight at the wardrobe, and would be absolutely made up if you were there....

Well, here we are. I'm in Liverpool visiting the missus. I have unleashed Dave and Jamie with login details so expect a blog from them in the next week or so. Dave's not very well at the minute...poor lad. We have a gig coming up this Monday down at The 'Drobe. Looking forward to it, acoustic line up so should be a bit different to how we usually do things. Bought Michael Buble's new album, loved it. That man's voice is sex on a stick. Well not a stick, but you know what I mean. Also purchased Mr. Nutini's new album, haven't listened yet but I will do and I will let you know what I think....

TG: HiFi Gig Review

Well, here it is, a real live industry reporter person giving us a review. These are the best bits... "...it's clear to see that this band is very accomplished, and seem to have some real talent on board. This is particularly obvious in the incendiary lead licks of guitarist Chris Dawkins. Smooth, pristine funk and soul is their business. And they do it very well..." "...it's the first dancing I've spotted in the crowd tonight...." " A really solid performance makes them one of the better unsigned acts to have graced the 360 Club." check out the full review at http://www.leedsmusicscene.net/article/11362/ I...

TG: Second Ever Blog (Don’t worry I’ll come up with more exciting titles in the future)

Well, it's 2am, I'm not gonna lie, I'm pretty tired. Currently wide awake on twitter and facebook, exhausted from the gig, and waiting for my beautiful girlfriend to call me and tell me she's in Liverpool safely. And I can't help but feel so satisfied. Great gig tonight, and what was amazing was having so many people down there just to see us. Can't tell you all how much we appreciate that. You were awesome. And as for the band...all I can say is wow. Chris was ridiculous, Dave Drummer (Hereby Thad) was on it, Jamie needed to behave himself, Lucia was nothing short of wonderful, and Dave...

Ok, so here it is. The very first blog we have. The website's still a little shaky but will be running how its gonna be very soon and constantly changing. Hopefully the other guys will be posting up blogs of what they're doing and how they're getting on. We'll be updating you on any releases, any dates, any new songs and just in general if we fancy telling you something. So here we are, it's Tuesday night and the big gig at HiFi Club is tomorrow, and typically I've come down with a bitch of a cold and seriously sore throat. But we'll struggle through I'm eating honey like Pooh Bear and taking...
