TG: From Blues to Bulls!

As the ‘The Get out of Bed’ tour begins and we build towards The Live and Unsigned Final at the O2 in July then last nights gig was satisfying, different and a little bit scary! But that’s okay because William Christopher Handy said, “The blues is the sound of a sinner on revival day.” So being a bit apprehensive was fair enough. The Keighley blues club is an intimate venue with the 100 plus crowd up close and personal. On the same bill was award-winning blues artist Cherry Lee Mewis – so no pressure there then! The Keighley crowd are appreciative and know their blues no wonder we were...

TG: The End of Life as a Student and Jamaican Speedboats!

We're in June, we're on tour this month and that is a great feeling. Everything's hectic at the moment, been some fantastic performances by LCM students as part of the ensemble unit down at the Wardrobe all week, great to see the talent I've had the priveledge of performing and learning with for the last 3 years. Can't believe it's over to be honest. I'll be doing my solo performance, joined by my 3 best friends (Dave, Dave and Jim), on 10th June playing a bluesy Clapton-Mayer-Me set, should be a good laugh. I've been fortunate enough to be involved in Bridie Burkinshaw's performance and David...

It was us by the way. In case you were wondering. Or you haven’t been on twitter, facebook or generally been in the north of England. Because I don’t know about the other guys in the band but I’ve been telling everyone I see that we’re going to be in the Live & Unsigned Grand Final at the O2 Arena in London on 23rd July! Indeed the excitement was so much for me I managed to tweet out that we’re...

TG: Giz a gig I know you’ve got one.

  • 19/03/2011

It's knackering to say the least. I think I'm gonna be ill... I've just done some uni work! That's right folks you heard it here first. Tom Gee did some work. It was fun though, journalism, always fancied myself as a bit of a writer. I'm blogging from my iPhone right now. How effing cool is that? So yeah. We have another gig in Leeds coming up on the 10th of April at Baby Jupiter but before that hopefully we might have a rearranged date for Night'n'Day gig. There's talk of a soul night. It's all very exciting. We can now confirm that our new album will be released on the first night of the tour...

TG: Stuck in the middle!

Clowns to the left of me, jokers to the right...you know the rest. That is an amazing song. It's mad, makes you feel like you don't know what's going on but whatever it is that is going on, get involved. Feeling like that myself right now. Frank James (our wonderful manager/agent) organising gigs left, right and centre. Radio interview with BCB (being broadcast on Saturday 19th March), gig in Coventry at Kasbah, was fantastic. Great night and everyone that came down seemed to enjoy it, can't wait to get back there on the tour. Big gig coming up in Durham at Head of Steam on Saturday, if you're...

Thad: Latest News

Well it's been a while since I last wrote on here...being bogged down with exam revision, certainly made the winter holidays fun! But at least all that is history now, and I can get back to preparations with the band. Things have certainly been heating up in that respect too... Back in January we went to Dewsbury to take part in the 1st round of the Live and Unsigned competition...of which we made it through to the Regional Final - which is being held back at Dewsbury town hall on 27th March. If you can make it there to support us it would be wicked, as this round is like a battle of the bands...

TG: MoreThan Freeman, New EP and the Get Out of Bed Tour!

  • date
  • 05/01/2011

So it's a new year with plenty of old resolutions we're all bringing back from yesteryear and I don't know about anyone else but this year feels pretty much the same as the last. Slightly more expensive perhaps, a bit more discontent in the air maybe, but as far as the music business goes it's the same as always. X Factor's ruining it, so is Will.I.Am (or as I prefer to call him Billy) but, have no fear. There's a revolution, and we're starting it right now. We're going to keep playing real music with real instruments and we're gonna do it without auto-tuning ourselves into sounding like...

TG: Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow

Strange that I'm snowed in the house in Leeds, the snow is still falling, I can't really feel my toes and yet...I'm thinking about summer. After sending out some early messages we've had some great feedback and the tourdates are being lined up and confirmed as I write. Frank and Christine have been working hard to call in all contacts across the UK & Ireland and we can confirm the tour will take place next July! We will once again be joined by the fantastic Nigel Passey and toying with the idea of calling it the "Erm...I'll think you'll find it's a TourBus Tour". So if you want us in your...

TG: College, Twitter and ManFlu

  • date
  • 09/11/2010

Well, we have a gig coming up on Sunday and, unfortunately, my immune system caught wind of it and decided to give me a serious bout of ManFlu. Bloody typical. In other news, Jim Jamm has an audition at the academy in Londres, Mr. Levi has just acquired a Nord, Thad is in the process of getting some new 'Das and it's nearly my birthday! wahooo! Nigel Passey and I have been planning a new tour next summer which we're both extremely excited about and no doubt you shall all witness the fruits of our efforts when the Gig page starts to fill up. Read an interesting article on the BBC website...

Thad – Busy Week

  • date
  • 20/08/2010

Well, what a busy past week or so the band have had! Last night we had a gig back at The Elbow Rooms - as charity event for Ben Roe. Seemed to go down well - and some promising prospects for the band may well now lie ahead. The band were minus 'Smokes' on keys - he's currently somewhere in Ireland - but we were once again joined by the very able Sean Clark on guitar and backing vox. We also shared the stage with Nigel Passey - which was great re-union after the tour! In other news - all parts from 'The End Of Tour Sessions' have now gone up on youtube - having been recorded live last week....
